Kuzmich, who revealed that she lives with Asperger's Syndrome, was one of the final five contestants on America's Next Top Model, Cycle 9. At the beginning of the competition, some of the other contestants bullied Kuzmich, making fun of her "awkward" behavior and talking about her behind her back. Kuzmich also suffers from ADHD. She is currently a student in Chicago, studying electronics and gaming.

Signs of Aspergers in Children
Aspergers symptoms are commonly described in children as having problems with eye contact and other nonverbal communication and often regarded by other children as weird or strange. They tend to have difficulty in, or inability to develop peer relationships. Difficulty in understanding humor or “reading” other people is also common. They also show odd posture or gait, moving clumsily and with poor coordination and tend to speak in a voice that is monotonous, rigid or unusually fast.
The autism spectrum disorders can often be reliably detected by the age of 3 years, and in some cases as early as 18 months.

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
The DSM is published by the American Psychiatic Association and provides a common language and standard criteria for the classification of mental disorders. There have been five revisions since it was first published in 1952, gradually including more mental disorders, though some have been removed and are no longer considered to be mental disorders. The fifth edition is due for publication in May 2013.

Redefining A Disorder
The DSM 5 draft includes traits of Asperger's, such as difficulty with social interactions and limited, repetitive behaviors, in a broad category called autism spectrum disorder. This is a difficult redefinition for those who have pride in their diagnosis of Asperger's and are now compared with major historical figures who we now think might have shared the traits, such as Einstein and Edison.

What makes Asperger's syndrome different from Autism?
What seperates Asperger's and Autism currently is a specific diagnostic criteria. Until recently, it was based on language development in a toddler. Now it is questionable among experts if there is a distinguishable difference.

- Most individuals with Asperger's Syndrome are of average or above average intelligence.
-Individuals who suffer from Asperger's Syndrome have extremely poor abilities to interpreting human relationships.
-Eye contact is not understood or made use of.
-Individuals tend to become irritable when the unexpected occurs.
-Communication is interpreted literally, meaning that sarcasm, playful teasing and figures of speech are not understood.
